Hopi Ear Candle Information & After Care Advice

What are Hopi Ear Candles?
Also known as Thermal Auricular Therapy are hollow candles made from the natural ingredients that are placed in the ear and then lit to draws out earwax and impurities as it burns, thus improving hearing.

How do they work?

The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. They equalise the pressure in the head and ears, making them suitable for most conditions. Secretion flow is gently stimulated, and the vapour collects and removes impurities or deposits. Most of these are carried away through the candle "chimney", although some of them can be found in the condensed candle wax residue after removal from the ear, or could even work their way up to the surface 24-48 hours after.

Can the waxy residue of the candle go into the ear?

No, the candles are made with a filter inside which prevents anything falling into the ear.

Who can use them?

Hopi ear candles are suitable for children from 4 years old to adults, however for insurance purposes I will not carry this treatment out on anyone younger than 16..

What conditions can they help with?
Clients have reported that they have helped with a variety of conditions, such as hay fever, sinus problems and tinnitus. It also eases tension and stress. Always check with a doctor if you are unsure if a treatment is right for you.

Does it help to have a treatment before taking a flight?

Yes, this is a great treatment prior to your flight to get rid of any excess wax and will help with pressure inside the ear.

I suffer from a lot of ear wax and often have them syringed. Can I use Hopi Ear Candling instead?

Yes, you can. I have several clients who previously endured the discomfort of syringing but now visit me for this treatment instead.

I have an ear infection; can I still have a Hopi ear Candle treatment?

No, the heat caused by the candle can make the ear infection worse, they are also not recommended for clients with grommets or those that have had an allergic
reaction to any of the ingredients which are beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St John’s Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and organically grown flax.
