Microblading Information, Preparation & After Care Advice:

I am so happy to be offering Microblading, I am working on completing my Level 4 in this amazing brow tattooing technique.

Please read the information below which are some FAQ, pre and post treatment care advice.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a completely safe semi-permanent tattooing treatment, carried out using a specialised manual hand tool.

Rather than giving you a block of colour like traditional tattooing, fine strokes are done by hand to create the illusion of real hairs, which is why those on the search for brow perfection prefer it.

The semi-permanent pigment is applied closely to the skins surface, which in turn leaves very fine and natural hair stroke detail, without pigment spilling under the skin, which can result in untidy strokes or blurred healing.

This amazing technique will provide you with the perfect brow design, with colour and shape options tailored to suit each individual.

Microblading is classed as a semi-permanent treatment, but with regular top-ups and great aftercare, it can last a lifetime. It's great for those with alopecia or people who've gone through chemotherapy, but also fantastic for anyone who's keen to up their brow game.

How will I know if I am suitable for Microblading?

Our Microblading technician will carry out a medical consultation to make sure you have no contra-indication which would either prevent the treatment going ahead. She will discuss your requirements, explain the procedure, and carry out a patch test, this initial appointment takes between 30-45 minutes.

Following a successful consultation, a non-refundable Booking Fee will be required to secure your appointment.

Please note: Microblading cannot be carried out on pregnant or breast-feeding ladies, insulin dependent diabetic clients, clients on Steroid or Ro-Accutane medication, and clients currently undergoing Chemotherapy.

For some medical conditions, a doctor’s note maybe required, if you are unsure please feel free to contact us to ask.

If you are planning on having anti-ageing injectable (Botox) or cosmetic surgery, please advise the technician as these procedures may alter the shape of your brows.

If you have already had Botox/Fillers or facial surgery, you are required to wait 6-8 weeks

Is Microblading painful?

The treatment can be a little uncomfortable so you may wish to apply a topical anaesthetic to the brow area at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment, and this can be purchased from your local pharmacy. It is generally used to help manage your comfort.

Do not take any aspirin, ibuprofen, or any anti-inflammatory for 48 hours prior to your treatment.

What should I expect during the procedure?

Our Microblading technician will ask you to sign a General Consent & Procedure Permit Form and confirm that your patch test result was negative.

The technician will colour test which pigment is right for your skin tone and will mark out you’re your new brow shape/design; you will be shown your new shape and this is the time for you to discuss with the technician any concerns before the Microblading starts.

Our technician will then use a special hand tool and pigment to create hairstrokes.

How soon after the treatment will I see results?

You can expect to see results immediately, but please beware that the colouring can be up to 50% darker straight after the treatment, this will fade 4-7 days after treatment. The true colour will not come through until 4-6 weeks after your procedure.

The technician will provide you with a Vitamin A&D Serum and an appropriate aftercare leaflet… it is very important that the aftercare is followed to ensure the very best result!

You also need to know...

  • Permanent Cosmetics are a low maintenance treatment, not a no-maintenance treatment. Maintenance is required to keep your brows in perfect condition. Although it is semi-permanent make up, it can fade but will not disappear therefore a colour refreshment is required. depending on each individual this should not be needed until 12-18 months after your initial treatment.
  • You may choose to have a colour boost treatment before a colour refreshment if you would prefer your brows looking fresh all the time.
  • As before, you may still need to remove the hair from around the brow shape.
  • To avoid pigment fade for as long as possible, avoid excessive exposure to the sun or UV rays and use a good sunscreen and moisturiser with SPF15.
  • Skin products with glycolic or fruity acids can fade permanent make up. So, avoid using on your newly created brows.
  • Laser hair removal can fade and change the colour of brows. Please advise the laser technician you have permanent cosmetics, and they can act accordingly, covering the area as a precaution. Lack of laser technician care could cause the pigment to go black.
  • Please inform the Blood Transfusion service if you donate blood, as you may not be able to give blood for 4 months post procedure.
  • If you are planning an MRI scan, chemical peel or any other similar procedures please inform them you have had permanent cosmetics.

Pre-Treatment Advice

Please follow the guidelines below to ensure you get the best results from your Microblading treatment...

  • Do not take any alcohol the night before your treatment.
  • Do not take any aspirin, ibuprofen, or any anti-inflammatory for 48 hours prior to and after your treatment. However, you must not discontinue any medications before consulting with your GP.
  • Any tweezing, waxing, threading, or tinting of the brows should be done at least 48 hours prior to Microblading. (You will also need to wait 1 week after Microblading to have any of these treatments done).
  • You can wear your normal make up to your appointment.
  • Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may be swollen or red. It is advised that you do not make any social plans for the day.
  • The National Blood Service will not accept blood donations for 4 months after Microblading

On the day of your treatment:

  • You must be in good health.
  • Please eat before you visit us.
  • You can wear your normal make up to your appointment.
  • You will be required to fill in consent and treatment forms and will have your photograph taken, these will be stored securely on our booking system.

Immediately after your treatment:

  • Please remember that the colour is up to 30-50% darker immediately after the treatment. It will begin to get lighter as the skin begins to heal (5-7 days). The true healed colour will not come through until 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment. As the skin heals, the colour (pigment) may seem to have disappeared as it is obscured by healing layers of skin. Under no circumstances should any further work be undertaken on this area in this time.
  • You may experience – slight numbness, swelling and redness following the treatment. This is a normal reaction to the skin being broken and the skin protecting itself. The numbing will subside within a couple of hours. The swelling and redness should subside within a couple of days.
  • In some cases, bruising may occur. This should last no longer than a week. If the area weeps, you can gently blot is with a clean, dry tissue to remove the moisture. Do not rub!

The days following your treatment:

  • Apply the aftercare ointment you were given twice a day using a cotton bud until the scabs have completely come off. (You may also find the ointment soothing on itchy brows, so please apply as required. If your brows are still itching you can also gently apply pressure to the area, using a clean dry tissue. Do not rub!).
  • During this time, the channels will begin to scab and flake off. Allow the skin to do this on its own. Under no circumstances should you pick, pull, or rub these off!! This can result in the colour healing unevenly and you can also risk scarring and infection.
  • We recommend keeping the eyebrows dry as they heal (for 5-7 days). Should the area get wet, gently pat dry using a clean lint- free cloth. Again, do not rub!
  • Before going in the shower or having a bath, apply some of the ointment as protection.
  • A mild skin cleanser may be used on the face avoiding the brows during the healing period.
  • Keep your hair away to help prevent any infection.

  • You cannot expose the healing skin to extreme heat, cold or moisture for two weeks following your treatment. This includes direct sun, tanning beds, Jacuzzis, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, hot water, skin creams or ointments other than what you have been instructed to use.

  • You cannot apply makeup to the brow until the skin has flaked, normally 2 weeks.
