Choosing Your Spray Tan Colour

Light, Medium or Dark – your tan is tailored to you.

A spray tan doesn't have to mean looking dramatically darker than your natural skin tone.

Before your treatment we'll discuss the finish you're hoping to achieve and I'll choose from Crazy Angel Light, Medium or Dark Professional Tanning Solution.

Light

Ideal if you'd like a subtle, naturally sun-kissed glow.

Medium

For a more noticeable golden tan while maintaining a natural-looking finish.

Dark

For those wanting a deeper, more bronzed result.

Your natural skin tone and desired result are both taken into consideration, so if you're unsure which shade is right for you, don't worry – you don't need to choose before your appointment.

What Happens During My Spray Tan?

A little preparation helps create a more even finish.

Before tanning begins we'll have a brief consultation to discuss your natural skin tone, previous tanning experience and how you'd like your finished tan to look.

I'll provide you with a disposable hair net and sticky feet. Sticky feet protect the soles of your feet from picking up excess tanning solution from the floor during your treatment.

I also apply Crazy Angel Barrier Cream where required to areas that can naturally absorb more tanning solution – generally around the edges of the feet and heels, knees, elbows and wrists.

The hydrating barrier cream creates an invisible shield over these problem areas, helping to prevent them from developing too dark while also helping to smooth and prepare dry skin.

Your chosen Crazy Angel solution is then professionally misted over the body to create an even, natural-looking tan.

What Should I Wear During My Spray Tan?

It's entirely your choice.

You can wear a disposable thong, your own underwear or no underwear, depending on your personal preference and the tan lines you'd like.

You can also choose whether or not you'd like to wear a bra.

If you prefer to keep your bra on, I recommend wearing a strapless bra or lowering the straps during the treatment to minimise unwanted strap marks.

If wearing your own underwear, I recommend choosing something dark that you don't mind potentially becoming marked with tanning solution.

Your comfort and privacy will always be respected throughout your appointment.

Preparing for Your Spray Tan

Good preparation can make a real difference to your finished tan.

Preparing your skin beforehand helps your spray tan apply more evenly, develop beautifully and fade more naturally.

Hair Removal

Complete shaving at least 24 hours before your spray tan and waxing at least 48 hours before your appointment.

This gives the skin time to settle before tanning solution is applied.

Exfoliation

Exfoliate your skin thoroughly during the 2–3 days leading up to your appointment, paying particular attention to naturally drier areas such as your elbows, knees and ankles.

If you have an existing fake tan, make sure this has been thoroughly removed before your appointment so your new tan has a clean, even base.

Crazy Angel also recommends exfoliating before tanning and removing any old tan.

Moisturising

Keep your skin well moisturised for 2–3 days before your spray tan, particularly around drier areas such as your elbows, knees and ankles.

Avoid heavily oil-based skincare products, as oil sitting on the surface of the skin can interfere with the tanning solution developing evenly.

Fingernails & Toenails

You may wish to apply clear nail polish to your fingernails and toenails before your appointment to help protect them from any unlikely discolouration.

On the Day of Your Spray Tan

Please arrive with clean, dry skin.

For approximately 6 hours before your appointment, where possible, avoid applying:

• Deodorant
• Perfume
• Make-up
• Moisturiser
• Body oils

Alternatively, make sure these products have been thoroughly rinsed from your skin with clean water before attending your appointment.

Please arrive with dry hair, as water dripping from wet hair onto freshly tanned skin could affect the finished result.

It's also a good idea to bring dark, loose-fitting clothing and loose shoes or flip-flops to wear home afterwards.

After Your Spray Tan

Give your tan time to develop.

Crazy Angel advises allowing its standard tan to develop for approximately 8 hours, with best results achieved by leaving the tan on overnight and showering the following morning.

I use Crazy Angel's standard professional Light, Medium and Dark tanning solutions at Pamper Room. I do not currently offer the Crazy Angel Express Spray Tan.

While your tan is developing:

• Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing
• Avoid tight clothing or underwear that could rub against the skin
• Avoid showering or bathing
• Avoid swimming
• Avoid exercise or excessive perspiration
• Try not to touch or rub your skin unnecessarily

If you're leaving your tan on overnight, loose nightwear can help reduce rubbing and colour transfer.

When it's time for your first shower, rinse your skin gently and avoid scrubbing.

Pat your skin dry with your towel rather than rubbing.

Looking After Your Tan

A little aftercare can help your colour last longer and fade more evenly.

Once your tan has developed and you've taken your first shower, moisturise your skin daily to keep it hydrated.

Avoid unnecessary exfoliation while you want to maintain your colour.

Swimming, particularly in chlorinated water, as well as long hot baths and excessive exfoliation, can cause your tan to fade more quickly.

As your tan naturally begins to fade, gentle exfoliation will help remove the remaining colour evenly and prepare your skin for your next spray tan.

Crazy Angel advises that the longevity of a tan varies according to the skin, but it can typically last around 5–10 days.

How do I know which colour spray tan to choose?

You don't need to choose before booking.

I use Crazy Angel Professional Tanning Solutions in Light, Medium and Dark.

We'll discuss the result you'd like to achieve at the beginning of your appointment and I'll select the most suitable shade based on your natural skin tone and desired depth of colour.

How long does a Crazy Angel Spray Tan take?

Your appointment is 30 minutes.

This allows time for your consultation, preparation and application of your chosen Crazy Angel tanning solution.

How long does the tan take to develop?

Crazy Angel advises allowing its standard tan to develop for approximately 8 hours.

For the best result, Crazy Angel recommends leaving the tan on overnight and showering the following morning.

Pamper Room does not currently offer the Crazy Angel Express Spray Tan.

How long will my spray tan last?

This can vary depending on your skin, preparation and aftercare.

Crazy Angel advises that a tan can typically last approximately 5–10 days.

Keeping your skin moisturised and avoiding excessive exfoliation can help your tan fade more evenly.

Will my knees, elbows and feet go darker?

Drier areas of skin can absorb more tanning solution, which is why these areas receive a little extra attention before I begin spraying.

I apply Crazy Angel Barrier Cream where required, generally around the heels and edges of the feet, knees, elbows and wrists, to help prevent excessive colour developing in these areas.

Will the soles of my feet get tanned?

You'll be provided with sticky feet to wear during your treatment.

These adhere to the soles of your feet and help prevent them from picking up tanning solution from the floor.

Do I have to wear underwear?

No. What you wear during your spray tan is entirely your choice.

You can wear a disposable thong provided for you, your own underwear or no underwear, depending on the tan lines you'd prefer.

Can I wear my bra?

Yes.

You can keep your bra on if that makes you more comfortable, although I recommend a strapless bra or lowering the straps during tanning to minimise strap marks.

You can also remove your bra if you'd prefer an even tan across the upper body.

Will my spray tan stain my clothes?

Some of the cosmetic guide colour can transfer onto clothing before your first shower.

I therefore recommend wearing dark, loose-fitting clothing after your appointment and avoiding tight-fitting garments that could rub against your developing tan.

Can I have a spray tan before a special occasion?

Absolutely.

Spray tanning is popular before weddings, holidays, parties, proms and other special occasions.

If you haven't had a spray tan before or you're tanning for an important event, please allow enough time before the occasion for your tan to fully develop and for you to have your first shower.

Does my spray tan protect my skin from the sun?

No.

A spray tan gives your skin colour but does not provide sun protection. Crazy Angel advises that its tanning products do not contain SPF.

You should continue to use appropriate SPF and follow normal sun-safety precautions.

Can I have a spray tan while pregnant?

Crazy Angel recommends speaking with your doctor before using self-tanning products during pregnancy.

If breastfeeding, Crazy Angel advises avoiding tanning product on the breast area.
