Who Is the Purifying Back Treatment For?

Eve Taylor specifically designed the professional treatment for congested, breakout-prone or acne skin on the back.

You don't need to have severe breakouts to benefit from the treatment. It can also be suitable when your back simply feels congested, rough or in need of a thorough professional cleanse.

What Happens During the Purifying Back Treatment?

Professional skincare combined with hands-on treatment for an area that's often overlooked.

You'll lie comfortably face down while I work over the entire back area.

Your treatment begins with a thorough double cleanse, using Eve Taylor professional skincare selected according to the condition of your skin.

For breakout-prone skin, the Eve Taylor protocol uses Clarifying Skin Wash to help thoroughly cleanse the area. Warm mitts customised with soothing Lavender Hydrolat are used to remove the cleanser and prepare the skin for the next stage.

Exfoliation

An Eve Taylor Salt & Seaweed Scrub is combined with Aqua-Mass and worked over the back using flowing circular movements.

Particular attention is given to areas of congestion, while pressure is kept lighter over active breakout-prone areas.

The exfoliation helps remove surface build-up and leaves the skin feeling smoother and better prepared for the products that follow.

Congestion & Extractions

Where appropriate, additional attention can be given to congested areas.

Eve Taylor Desincrustation Gel may be applied to help prepare areas of congestion and steam may also be used.

Extractions can then be carried out where appropriate and where the skin allows.

This part of the treatment is tailored to your skin – not every back needs extractions and I won't unnecessarily squeeze or aggravate inflamed areas. The Eve Taylor protocol specifically treats this as an optional stage according to the client's congestion.

Clearing Aromatic Serum

Eve Taylor Clearing Aromatic Serum is then applied over the back.

This targeted aromatic formulation forms part of Eve Taylor's professional protocol for congested and breakout-prone skin and is also incorporated into the treatment mask that follows.

Marine Mud Body Wrap

A professional Eve Taylor Marine Mud Body Wrap, customised with Clearing Aromatic Serum, is smoothed over the back.

Rich in marine ingredients, Eve Taylor describes its Marine Mud Body Wrap as cleansing and detoxifying and recommends it for a number of body concerns, including breakout-prone areas.

The mask is left on the skin while you're kept warm and comfortable, giving the treatment time to work without feeling rushed.

It is then thoroughly removed using warm mitts.

Moisturising Back Massage

Your treatment concludes with moisturising skincare and a relaxing back massage.

This is one of the reasons I allow 40 minutes for my Purifying Back Treatment rather than offering it as a short express treatment.

After concentrating on cleansing, exfoliation and areas of congestion, the final stage gives you time to relax while the skin is moisturised and cared for.

Your back is left feeling cleaner, smoother, refreshed and thoroughly treated.

If you experience ongoing back congestion or breakouts, it's important to remember that one treatment isn't necessarily going to permanently clear the skin.

Your results will depend on your individual skin, the cause and severity of your breakouts and how you care for the area between treatments.

Regular professional treatment alongside appropriate homecare may be helpful for skin that is persistently congested.

Preparing for Your Purifying Back Treatment

Very little preparation is required.

Please arrive with clean skin where possible and avoid applying heavy body creams, oils or fake tan to your back immediately before your appointment.

Avoid deliberately exfoliating or scrubbing the area immediately before treatment – exfoliation is already included within your appointment.

If your skin has recently been waxed, treated with IPL or laser, or has undergone another professional skin treatment, please let me know before your appointment.

If you're currently using prescription or medicated products for acne or another skin condition, please tell me before treatment so I can check whether the treatment needs to be adapted.

After Your Purifying Back Treatment

Treat your freshly exfoliated skin gently.

Following your appointment, your skin may feel particularly clean and smooth and some areas may look slightly pink temporarily, especially where congestion or extractions have been treated.

For the remainder of the day:

Avoid excessive heat, vigorous exercise or anything likely to cause heavy perspiration over the treated area.

Avoid picking, squeezing or scratching any remaining blemishes.

Avoid applying heavily fragranced products or harsh exfoliating products to your back immediately after treatment.

Keep the area clean and allow the skin time to settle.

Is this treatment suitable for back acne?

Eve Taylor specifically designed the Purifying Back Treatment for clients experiencing congestion, breakouts or acne on the back area.

However, acne varies considerably.

If you have severe, painful, cystic, infected or medically treated acne, please let me know before booking. Depending on the condition of your skin, treatment may need to be adapted or it may be more appropriate to seek medical advice first.

Is this the same as a back facial?

Essentially, yes – although I prefer to call it a Purifying Back Treatment because it follows an Eve Taylor professional body-treatment protocol.

It uses many of the principles you'd associate with a facial – cleansing, exfoliation, attention to congestion, a treatment mask and moisturising – but everything is focused specifically on the skin of your back.

Do you remove blackheads?

Extractions can be included where appropriate.

After cleansing and exfoliation, Eve Taylor's Desincrustation Gel may be used on congested areas and steam may be incorporated before suitable extractions are performed.

I won't attempt to extract every blemish or squeeze inflamed skin. What I do will depend on the condition of your skin on the day.

Will this treatment get rid of all my spots?

No treatment can guarantee to permanently eliminate spots or acne.

The Purifying Back Treatment is designed to deeply cleanse, exfoliate and target areas of congestion, helping improve the feel and appearance of the skin.

If your back is persistently breaking out, we can discuss whether further treatments and changes to your homecare routine may be helpful.

Does the treatment include a massage?

Yes.

My 40-minute Purifying Back Treatment finishes with a relaxing moisturising back massage.

This gives us enough time to carry out the skin-focused stages properly while still allowing the treatment to feel enjoyable and relaxing rather than rushed.

What should I wear?

You'll need to remove clothing from your upper body so I can properly access and treat your back.

You'll be appropriately covered with towels throughout the treatment, with only the area being treated exposed.

Can I have this treatment if I'm pregnant?

No – I would not offer the complete Purifying Back Treatment during pregnancy.

Although some of the individual Eve Taylor products used within the protocol can be used during pregnancy, the treatment includes Marine Mud Body Wrap, which Eve Taylor specifically advises avoiding during any stage of pregnancy.

Can I have this treatment if I take Thyroxine?

Please tell me before booking if you take Thyroxine.

The Eve Taylor Marine Mud Body Wrap used within this treatment contains marine ingredients including iodine, and Eve Taylor specifically states that it should not be used when taking Thyroxine because of a potential interaction with the iodine within the formulation.

What if I take regular medication?

Please make me aware of any regular medication during your consultation.

Eve Taylor places specific restrictions on its Marine Mud Body Wrap for clients taking certain essential medications, including blood-pressure, heart and anticoagulant medication.

This doesn't mean you need to decide yourself whether your medication is suitable – just let me know what you take so I can establish whether the treatment is appropriate.
