BOOK HENNA BROWS

What Are Henna Brows?

Henna Brows are a professional brow tinting and shaping treatment that colours both the natural eyebrow hairs and the skin underneath.

This is what gives Henna Brows their distinctive fuller and more defined appearance.

Unlike a traditional brow tint, which primarily colours the brow hairs, Brow Henna can also leave a temporary stain on the skin beneath them.

This can help enhance the brow shape, improve definition and make sparse areas appear fuller without committing to permanent make-up.

I use professional Mrs.Highbrow Dyotics Brow Henna, which is available in different shades that can be selected and blended to create a colour appropriate for your brows.

How Long Do Henna Brows Last?

Mrs.Highbrow Dyotics Brow Henna can remain visible for up to 10 days on the skin and up to 6 weeks on the brow hairs.

The skin stain will gradually fade first, while colour can remain on the natural brow hairs for considerably longer.

Individual results vary and will depend on factors including your skin type, natural brow hair, skincare routine, lifestyle and aftercare.

Oily skin, exfoliating skincare and some active skincare products can cause the skin stain to fade more quickly.

Are Henna Brows Right for Me?

Henna Brows could be a great choice if you:

  • Want more definition than a traditional eyebrow tint
  • Would like your brows to appear fuller
  • Have sparse areas you'd like to make less noticeable
  • Want greater definition around your brow shape
  • Like a more structured or defined brow
  • Want colour on both the brow hairs and skin
  • Want to see the effect of a more defined brow without committing to permanent make-up
  • Prefer a longer-lasting colour on the brow hairs
  • Want your brows professionally mapped and shaped

Your natural brow growth, skin type and the amount of hair present will all influence your finished result.

Henna can help make sparse areas appear fuller through its temporary skin stain, but it cannot create actual brow hairs where none are present.

What Happens During a Henna Brows Appointment?

Your appointment begins with a consultation so we can discuss your natural brows, the shape you'd like and your preferred finished result.

Your brows and surrounding skin are then carefully cleansed and prepared to remove oils and residue that could affect the Henna result.

Your brows are mapped out to help create an appropriate shape and improve balance and symmetry.

A suitable shade of Mrs.Highbrow Dyotics Brow Henna is then selected and applied carefully to the mapped brow area, colouring both the natural brow hairs and the skin beneath.

Once the Henna has developed and been removed, your brows are waxed and shaped as required to complete the finished look.

You'll leave with beautifully groomed, defined brows and I'll explain how to care for them at home.

What Is Brow Mapping?

Brow mapping is used to help determine the shape, proportions and balance of your eyebrows before the Henna is applied.

Rather than simply following an existing brow line, mapping allows me to consider your natural brow growth and facial features when creating the finished shape.

It also gives us an opportunity to discuss the proposed shape before the Henna is applied.

Your natural brows won't necessarily be perfectly identical – faces aren't perfectly symmetrical – but mapping can help create a more balanced and considered result.

What's the Difference Between Henna Brows and a Regular Brow Tint?

The main difference is the effect on the skin.

A traditional eyebrow tint is primarily intended to colour your natural brow hairs.

Henna Brows colour the brow hairs while also creating a temporary stain on the skin underneath, producing a more defined and fuller-looking result.

This makes Henna particularly useful if you like a stronger brow shape or have areas where you'd like the brow to appear more filled in.

The skin stain is temporary and fades considerably sooner than the colour on your brow hairs.

Will Henna Brows Look Too Dark?

Your Henna colour will be selected with your natural brows, colouring and preferred finished look in mind.

Mrs.Highbrow Dyotics Brow Henna is available in different shades which can be blended, allowing the colour to be tailored rather than using one shade for everybody.

Immediately after treatment, the skin stain will naturally be at its most noticeable.

It will then gradually soften and fade as your skin naturally renews.

If you prefer a softer brow rather than a highly defined finish, please tell me during your consultation so this can be taken into consideration.

Do I Need a Patch Test for Henna Brows?

Yes.

A patch test is required at least 48 hours before your Henna Brows treatment.

Mrs.Highbrow Dyotics Brow Henna contains PPD (p-phenylenediamine), an ingredient used within the professional colouring system which can cause an allergic reaction in some people.

This makes appropriate patch testing particularly important.

A patch test helps identify potential sensitivity but cannot guarantee that an allergic reaction will never occur.

If you experience redness, itching, burning, swelling or another unexpected reaction following your patch test, please contact me and do not attend for the Henna treatment until we've discussed it.

How Should I Prepare for My Henna Brows Appointment?

For the best possible Henna result, please arrive with the brow area clean and free from make-up, oils and skincare products.

Before your appointment:

  • Complete your required patch test at least 48 hours beforehand
  • Avoid applying make-up to the brow area on the day of treatment
  • Avoid applying oils, moisturisers or heavy skincare around the brows immediately before your appointment
  • Avoid exfoliating the brow area immediately before your treatment
  • Don't wax, thread or excessively pluck your brows immediately beforehand – shaping is included within your appointment
  • Let me know about any irritation, sensitivity, skin conditions or recent treatments around the brow area
  • Complete any consultation information requested before your appointment

If you're using strong active skincare or have recently had a facial or skin treatment around the brow area, please contact me if you're unsure whether this could affect your appointment.

Henna Brows Aftercare

How you care for your brows can affect how long the skin stain remains visible.

Following your treatment:

  • Keep the brow area dry for the first 24 hours
  • Avoid oils and oil-based products directly around the brows initially
  • Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the brows
  • Avoid exfoliating products directly over the brow area
  • Be cautious with strong active skincare around the brows
  • Avoid excessive heat, steam, swimming and heavy perspiration immediately following treatment
  • Avoid excessive sun and UV exposure
  • Be gentle when cleansing around your brows

The Henna stain on the skin will naturally fade as your skin renews. This is completely normal and isn't an indication that the colour has disappeared from your brow hairs.

I'll provide you with appropriate aftercare advice following your appointment.

When Might Henna Brows Not Be Suitable?

There are circumstances where Henna Brows may need to be postponed or may not be appropriate.

These can include:

  • A reaction to your required patch test
  • A previous allergic reaction to hair or eyebrow colouring products
  • A previous reaction to black henna tattoos
  • Broken, irritated or inflamed skin around the brows
  • Active skin conditions affecting the treatment area
  • Significant sensitivity around the brows
  • Certain recent facial, resurfacing or skin treatments

The manufacturer also specifies circumstances in which its Brow Henna should not be used, which will be considered as part of your consultation.

If you're unsure whether a medical condition, skin condition, medication, skincare product or recent treatment could affect your appointment, please contact me before booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does Henna Stay on the Skin?

Mrs.Highbrow states that its Dyotics Brow Henna can remain visible on the skin for up to 10 days.

However, this isn't guaranteed.

Your individual skin type, skincare routine, cleansing, oil production and lifestyle can all affect how quickly the stain fades.

How Long Does Henna Stay on the Brow Hairs?

Colour can remain on the natural brow hairs for up to 6 weeks, although individual results vary.

The skin stain will normally fade much sooner than the colour on the hairs.

Are Henna Brows the Same as Hybrid Brows?

Not exactly.

Although the terms are sometimes used loosely within the beauty industry, Brow Henna and Hybrid Dye are different professional colouring systems.

At Pamper Room, this treatment uses Mrs.Highbrow Dyotics Brow Henna.

Does the Treatment Include Brow Shaping?

Yes.

Your Henna Brows appointment includes brow mapping, waxing and shaping as part of the treatment.

Can Henna Brows Cover Gaps?

The temporary stain on the skin can help make sparse areas appear fuller and more defined.

However, Henna cannot create actual brow hairs, so the finished result will still depend on your natural brow growth.

Are Henna Brows Permanent?

No.

Both the skin stain and hair colour are temporary.

The skin stain fades first, while the colour can remain visible on your natural brow hairs for longer.

Are Mrs.Highbrow Henna Brows Vegan?

The Mrs.Highbrow Dyotics Brow Henna I use is described by the manufacturer as vegan and cruelty-free.

How Often Can I Have Henna Brows?

Henna Brow treatments need to be appropriately spaced rather than repeatedly colouring the brows too frequently.

At Pamper Room, Henna Brows are booked every 6 weeks.

Your brows and surrounding skin will also be assessed before your treatment.
